Stand: Oktober 2026 (Entwurf).

Terms of Use

This page shows the same text as the app.

1. Éditeur

R&R Digital Solutions, René Rostek

info@stepsibling.app

1. Provider

R&R Digital Solutions, René Rostek

Scheifendahl 3, 52525 Heinsberg

info@stepsibling.app

2. Subject matter and scope

(1) Stepsibling is a running app with a humorous character (companions: Nugget, Laufello, Buddy and Mimi). It records your runs, converts the distance covered into comparison units and quests and contains mini-games.

(2) At the start you choose one of two modes, which you can change later in the settings:

(3) These terms govern the contractual relationship between the provider named above and you (the "user"). Conflicting terms of the user do not apply.

(4) We may change the scope of the app's functions to the extent this is reasonable for you.

3. Age and eligibility

(1) Use is permitted for persons aged 16 and over. You confirm that your month and year of birth are correct. The date is not stored, only the result of the check.

(2) If you are under 18, you may use paid features only with the consent of your parents or legal guardians.

(3) The app contains crude humor and references, for example to tobacco. It does not encourage smoking.

4. Health and safety

(1) Stepsibling is not medical advice and does not replace a medical examination. If you have health concerns, talk to your doctor before running.

(2) You run at your own risk. You pay attention to traffic and your surroundings, do not look at the display when that is dangerous, and do not run faster or farther than is good for you.

(3) Pace, distance and other measurements are estimates and may differ. We give no assurance of their accuracy.

5. Stepsibling Plus (subscription)

(1) Stepsibling Plus is an optional subscription with additional features, for example more units, all quests, extended statistics and the mini-games Catcher and Smasher.

(2) The purchase is made through the Apple App Store. Price and term (monthly or yearly) are shown to you before the purchase.

(3) The subscription renews automatically for the chosen term unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current term in the settings of your Apple ID.

(4) Payment, invoicing and refunds are governed by Apple's terms. Statutory rights, in particular the right of withdrawal, remain unaffected. We neither see nor store payment data.

(5) The fee for running groups (section 7) is also a subscription under this section and is billed through the App Store.

6. Username and community (online mode)

(1) Your username is unique and is assigned only once. It is visible to other users together with your character and your kilometers.

(2) Usernames that contain your real name or other people's names, that insult, or that infringe the rights of third parties are not permitted.

(3) In case of a breach we may change or block the name and block the account under section 9.

(4) Taking part in online mode is voluntary. In solo mode, nobody sees your data.

(5) You can delete your online account at any time in the settings.

7. Running groups

(1) A running group has at most 5 members, including the founder. You can be a member of up to 3 groups at the same time.

(2) The founder opens the group, invites further members by invitation link and bears the fee of €0.99 per month or €5.99 per year for every group the founder creates. Members pay no fee.

(3) A group offers a chat for its members only, shared quests and a leaderboard. Your runs are shared in a group only if you switch this on in that group's settings. You set this for each group separately and can switch it off at any time.

(4) The founder can remove members from the group and ban them. Banned people cannot join the group again, not even with the invitation link. We remain entitled to take measures ourselves under section 9.

(5) If the founder's subscription ends, the group can no longer be used.

(6) The invitation link is meant only for people you know. Do not share it publicly. It may be limited in time, and the founder can make it invalid.

8. Content, photos and rules of conduct

(1) "Content" means messages, photos, usernames and all other information that users enter into the app. You are responsible for your own content. You confirm that you have the rights required for it.

(2) Insults, hate speech, threats, harassment, sexual content, advertising and other illegal content are not allowed.

(3) Photos in the group chat are one-time photos: each photo can be viewed only once and can no longer be retrieved afterwards. Not allowed are photos showing

(4) You grant us the non-exclusive right, limited to the duration of storage, to store your content, process it technically (for example shrink it) and transmit it to the members of the respective group, to the extent necessary to operate the app.

(5) We automatically check photos for prohibited content before delivery. Photos that fail this check are not delivered. We may restrict the photo function, for example for new accounts or to a certain number of photos per hour, and switch it off at any time.

(6) The app tries to prevent screenshots of photos. We cannot rule out that recipients capture photos in other ways, for example by photographing the screen. You undertake not to save, pass on or publish photos you receive.

9. Reporting, bans and disclosure to authorities

(1) Reporting procedure: You can report any message and any photo and give a reason. We review reports and aim to respond within 24 hours.

(2) Measures: We may remove content, ban users temporarily or permanently and ban groups. A ban applies to the account, not just the name. When choosing the measure we take into account the severity and frequency of the breach, any danger to others and the legitimate interests of those involved. In the case of urgent reports, the sender may be banned provisionally until the review is complete.

(3) Retention of reported content: We keep reported photos and messages blocked for review for no more than 72 hours. After that they are deleted, unless they were passed on to a competent body or we are legally obliged to keep them.

(4) Particularly serious reports: For the reasons "sexual content or abuse" and "child in danger", our support does not look at the photo but passes the case on to the competent bodies.

(5) Disclosure to authorities: We pass on the following content and the related data (for example account ID, username, times, group, reported content) without exception to the competent law enforcement authorities and recognized reporting centers, as a rule without informing the person concerned beforehand, to the extent the law permits:

For other offenses, for example threats or the use of unconstitutional symbols, we pass on data when we are obliged to do so by law or by an order of an authority or court, or when it is necessary for prosecution.

(6) Abusive reports: Anyone who deliberately files false reports may lose the report function.

(7) Complaint: If you want to contest a ban, you can write to us by email. We will review the decision again. This does not apply to cases under paragraph 5.

10. Data protection

In solo mode your data stays on your device. In online mode, username, character, kilometer totals, group memberships, chat messages and, briefly, photos are also processed so the community works. We store reports, blocks and bans to protect users. Optionally you can allow anonymous usage numbers (default: off). Details, legal bases, retention periods and your rights are in the privacy policy.

11. Availability, warranty and liability

(1) We endeavor to keep the app running but cannot promise uninterrupted availability. This applies especially to online mode.

(2) Statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

(3) We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body and health. The same applies under the Product Liability Act and, where we have given a guarantee, for that guarantee.

(4) In cases of slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation, that is, an obligation whose fulfillment makes the contract possible and on which you can regularly rely. Liability is then limited to the typical, foreseeable damage.

(5) Users are responsible for their content. We do not adopt content as our own.

12. Term, changes and final provisions

(1) You can end solo mode at any time by uninstalling the app. You can delete your online account at any time in the settings. You cancel subscriptions under section 5.

(2) We may terminate the online account for good cause, in particular for serious or repeated breaches of section 6, 8 or 9.

(3) We may change these terms when the app or the legal situation changes. For material changes we ask for your consent again. If you do not agree, you can no longer use the app.

(4) German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state in which you habitually reside remain unaffected.

(5) If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remains valid.

Status: October 2026 (draft).
